Mr. Charny began practicing law in 1982. Together with his wife Judy, he founded the law firm of Charny & Charny in 1999, which expanded and changed its name to Charny, Charny & Karpousis, P.A. in 2003. As managing partner, Mr. Charny leads the practice's Business, Real Estate & Litigation Group where his areas of concentration include Business and Real Estate Litigation, Probate Litigation, Business Start-Ups and Dissolutions, Business Transactions, Franchises, Real Estate, and Contracts, including Employment and Consulting Agreements.
An active participant in the legal community, Mr. Charny is a member of the Camden County and New Jersey State Bar Associations, and the Corporate, Banking & Business Law, Commercial Litigation, and Unauthorized Practice of Law Committees of the Camden County Bar Association. He has served on the District IV Ethics Committee of the Supreme Court of New Jersey (2000 to 2003).
Mr. Charny is also committed to professional associations at large, including his membership in Businesses Committed to Burlington County, the South Jersey Jewish Business Network and Burlington County Chamber of Commerce. He recently participated as a speaker in a Burlington County Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Economic Development Forum Series entitled "Solving the Puzzle: Helping Put the Pieces Together for Your Business Team" discussing legal issues facing businesses today. In 2009, Mr. Charny founded the Business Development Alliance, a networking group for established South Jersey business people and professionals.
In recognition of his business acumen and achievements, Mr. Charny was the subject of a Philadelphia Business Journal "CEO File" in December 2007. He has been recognized as one of South Jersey Magazine's "Awesome Attorneys" (2007-2010) and named to SJ Magazine's "Top Attorney" list (2007-2011). Over the years, Mr. Charny has participated in a variety of lectures and speaking engagements, including as a panelist on the Legal Line Television Show.
Mr. Charny is past president of the Katz Jewish Community Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and has been an active member of its Board of Directors since 1999. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey. Mr. Charny is an Advisory Board Member with Sun National Bank and Building Q, a marketing and licensing company. Mr. Charny is a member of the Shivas Irons Society, which provides opportunities for community, discovery and transformation through golf.
Mr. Charny resides in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, with his wife Judy. They are the parents of three sons.
